This IP proposes a power-efficient resonant regulating rectifier for wireless power transfer system, which uses hybrid type of pulse width and frequency modulation (PWM and PFM). The proposed system regulates two different output voltages in the positive cycle and the negative cycle without the need for low drop-out (LDO) regulator, due to its four analog feedbacks with two PWM and PFM schemes. Moreover, the adaptive offset compensation techniques with dual sampling, which controls the voltage for the falling edge and delay-line for the rising edge, enables the high power conversion efficiency. The active area of 22.5-mm2 in 0.25-μm CMOS prototype with recording/stimulation/ telemetry prototype demonstrated that the secondary regulation voltage can be changed from 4.5V to 1.0V while the first regulating voltage is regulated at 4.5V, resulting in 3.5V difference of two distinct outputs. In addition, a peak power conversion efficiency of 91.5% (simulation) is achieved when the total load power is 120 mW. |
