This proposal presents a 48 V input bi-directional converter that performs buck/boost power conversion regardless of the inductor current direction. By operating as auxiliary converter that make balance between 48-V and 12-V battery in xEV application, batteries supply steady voltage level maintaining high power conversion efficiency even with a single buck/boost converter. The converter supplies both power transfer direction (from 48-V to 12-V & from 12-V to 48-V batteries) operating in the discontinuous conduction mode. The proposed converter is implemented in TSMC 180 nm BCD process, operates with 1 MHz clock, and mixed signals of digital and analog circuits. |
